Ready to make a splash? Poole Harbour – the second largest natural harbour in the world – will accommodate you, whether you step aboard a Sunseeker superyacht, a pleasure cruise to Brownsea Island, a zippy RIB, or an aquatic jet-pack, which will see you zooming high above the waves. Or try your hand/sea legs at any of the other watersports on offer: jet-skiing, water-skiing, wakeboarding, ringo riding, windsurfing, kitesurfing, paddleboarding…

Back on dry land, explore the town’s rich history at Poole Museum, then follow the Cockle Trail around Poole Quay and Poole Old Town, perhaps making a detour to Tin of Sardines bar to sample some of the 300 types of gin served here. Or fill your boots (and stomach) at one of the many eateries, offering everything from hearty pub grub to Michelin-starred fishy fare.

Nearly a fifth of Poole is open green space, so you’ll have no trouble finding somewhere to walk off your food. Poole Park, Upton Country Park, Whitecliff and any of the clifftops with ‘wow’ views of the Jurassic Coast are definitely worth a jaunt.
