Reason for accommodation need
Having been a client of ours for around 15 years, the company was about to commence a project to integrate two software systems. The project would involve bringing together a small team of senior members from their own business and a much larger team of staff subcontracted from a big software development firm. The project would be run from the client’s UK headquarters in Newbury.
The accommodation requirement
The client needed to accommodate the project team of up to 90 staff at any one time. An apartment environment, as opposed to a hotel, was the preferred choice as a number of the team members would be staying in Newbury for many months and were wanting to be located near to the town centre. The vast majority of Newbury’s hotels are outside of the town centre, so serviced accommodation was the obvious answer.
The cost requirement
The client already had preferential negotiated rates with the majority of local reputable hotels. The average cost of a night’s stay was £110 plus VAT and, with all additional costs, the average fee being spent was £140 plus VAT per night per guest. The client was seeking to secure cost savings by housing guests in serviced accommodation, with guests sharing the communal facilities of the property.
The solution
The Corporate Housing Partnership set up a dedicated portfolio of serviced apartments, ranging from studios to four-bedroom properties. By actively migrating guests to apartments and houses with up to four bedrooms, cost savings of over 30% were achieved.
